The Kenya China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCCI) visited Kibera Primary School to support daily learning while reinforcing the importance of dignity, care, and equal opportunity in education.
The initiative was led by KCCCI Chairman Tim Chen, who was accompanied by members of the Chamber’s leadership and team.
In addition to the donation, the team screened an educational film on climate change, helping pupils understand how environmental changes are affecting communities in Kenya and around the world, and why young people must be part of the solution.
The activity forms part of Phase II of the School Science Popularization Project, a flagship education and mentorship initiative spearheaded by the Kenya China Chamber of Commerce.
The project aims to inspire curiosity, strengthen science learning, and expose young learners to global challenges such as climate change through age-appropriate and engaging content.
Event Highlights
Founded in 1953 by Queen Elizabeth, Kibera Primary School has grown into a cornerstone of public education in Nairobi. Today, the school serves 1,864 learners, many of whom come from underserved communities.
Teachers and school administrators welcomed the initiative, noting that mentorship and exposure to global issues such as climate change help broaden pupils’ perspectives and strengthen their confidence.
The Kenya China Chamber of Commerce and Industry continues to expand its social responsibility initiatives, with education, youth empowerment, science learning, and sustainability at the core.
Phase II of the School Science Popularization Project will roll out to more schools, reinforcing the Chamber’s belief that today’s learners are tomorrow’s innovators and climate leaders.
He also lauded the government efforts to deliberately cushion our children. “Programs like Dishi Na County have transformed lives serving over 50 million meals, improving attendance, concentration, and retention. Today, hundreds of thousands of learners walk into class not just with books —but with full stomachs and renewed dignity”.
He also encouraged the the teachers and school leadership reminding them that they are the true heroes of this nation. “In difficult environments, with limited resources, you shape minds, build character, and protect dreams.”
In Conclusion Dr. Blak Aende urged other like minded organizations to join KCCCI in empoweing students
and schools “When you lift a child, you lift a family. When you lift a family, you lift a community.
When you lift a community, you build a nation.’
